Our team members are carefully selected for their natural empathy and rigorously trained in the latest dementia care practices. To ensure the highest level of care possible, we provide a higher staff-to-resident ratio than normally found in assisted living or memory care.
Meet our Executive Director
Sonya Smith, LVN, RCFE is our new executive director! A native of the Bay Area, Sonya brings a wealth of experience to Astoria. An accomplished senior living and senior health care professional, she has held a variety of leadership roles, both inside and outside of the industry, prior to joining the Astoria team.
Inspired by her passion for seniors, Sonya believes the key to quality senior living is to empower residents to live their best lives each and every day. “I am so excited to be part of the Astoria team because of its reputation for doing just that – giving seniors the tools and resources they need to ensure they live life to the fullest regardless of their abilities.
Sonya says working at Astoria doesn’t feel like coming to work, it feels like coming to visit family. “Getting to know our residents, hearing their stories and learning about their rich pasts makes me feel like I am truly a part of a warm, loving family – and there’s no better feeling than that. Every day I am energized by their stories and their smiles.”
When she’s not tending to the well-being of Astoria residents and families, Sonya enjoys running, any outdoor activities and spending time with her family.
